Faux Hand-Painting

Over on Online Card Classes, its Day 10....and I'm on Day 8 (LOL).  I will say I am not a water colorer. I even did the paint-by-number things as a kid badly. That being said, after a disaster first try with distress inks, I switched gears for my second attempt. And I am okay with it!

I followed the card design and instructions by Tasnim Ahmed, using the Magnolias For Her stamp set by Altenew. I decided to use Caran d'Ache Neocolor II crayons, which are water-soluble wax pastel crayons and they water color beautifully. I also opted to use Strathmore 140lb mixed media paper which is super smooth and designed to take a lot of water abuse.

After stamping the magnolia image with Antique Linen distress ink, making it barely visible, I colored the image by either scribbling the crayon onto my craft mat and added water to make a paint or taking the wet brush directly to the crayon. I was overly cautious about letting each section thoroughly dry before painting again....which is why it took me at least a day to paint this. During my drying times I was creating more pieces of disaster :)

The sentiment is from the same stamp set and was heat embossed in gold. The colored card stock is Raspberry Fizz by Papertrey Ink. The finished card is a 4.5" square.
